Palm Cellars is a project started by Shawn Mitchell.  I have worked in the wine industry for over 20 years and have a great passion for the wines of the world. I enjoy everything from racy, minerally Germans, to fine Burgundys, to in your face Aussies. Stylistically, I would say my wines are closer to Australian, but with higher acids.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is simple. Source the best grapes possible, make the best wine possible, sell it for a fair price, and keep enough around our house for our friends and family to enjoy.

Vineyards

The vineyards are from what is termed the Westside. These vineyards have elevations between 1000 and 1800 ft. They have soils of calcarous limestone and fractured shale. The combition of soil, day and night cooling, (avg.some 40 degrees in late summer) thoughtful clonal selections, and state of the art viticulture, are resulting in dynamic wines.

Amounts

In 2004 the production was 700 cases of Zinfandel, 250 cases of Syrah and 23 cases of Grenache.

Wineries

We are blessed to have some of the best friends anyone could ask for. We are currently making our wine at our good friend's winery. Mat Garretson of Garretson Wine Company..
